It’s always one thing after the other.
I feel shame not for the wrong things I have done, but for the right things that I have failed to do for you. I wish I could erase it all, start over. I am so full of shit. Didn’t you know? I open my mouth and immediately start speaking nonsense and my words do nothing but tangle themselves into countless knots. I am restless because of love and captured by the past. I wish you could of seen all of the thunderstorms that rolled from my eyes.
I once saw an idiom that read: “One day, three autumns.” It meant that when you miss someone, twenty four hours can feel like one thousand and ninety five days.
I can’t miss you like that. I can’t miss you for years. I can’t miss your laugh. Or your gaze. Or your deep, brown eyes.
I’ve built a home for you in my heart and I need you to stay.
