I knew I loved you the day it started snowing in Texas. It was unheard of, those little white, cold, icy fluff balls floating from the sky. We were in rehearsal and you noticed the flurries from the window. You pulled me down the hallway, laughing and refusing to tell me where we were going. Out the fire escape and on the balcony, we kissed in the snow. I’d never seen you look so handsome; snowflakes dusted your thick chestnut hair and dancing on your eyelashes. We kissed again, just as your ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend stumbled onto the same fire escape. The two of you locked eyes and they slowly turned and left. You turned back to me and we put our foreheads together and laughed because we were here first. You cupped my jawline in your hands and kissed me again, this one different. That’s the moment I knew.
