(photo via) So at breakfast, I might have made mention of having to work on Valentines Day. This might have been after we spent the weekend talking about what we’d like to do for Valentines Day, and this is probably after she made a reservation for dinner for Valentines Day. I tried to explain, “Like, baby, they’re offering to pay me overtime - it’s like worth it,” She’s mid bite, chewing and she stops. She tears up. I push my bowl away from me and lean back in my chair. “It’s just one night, like, you shouldn’t get so-” but I stop. She’s crying really hard now, and then I remember that after 3 years this would be our first Valentines Day together. The previous two years we were apart, in different cities. Finally we’re together, here, now. I’m such a dull motherfucker sometimes. I make a few phone calls. I no longer have to work. She smiles at me. Her eyes are still red, but she manages to finish her breakfast. Crisis averted.
