I was sure that she never inhaled, and I’d always try and call her on that shit. There was a rundown gas station by our house, where cigarettes were always on sale and I used to go in there before I went to work and I’d buy those 3 packs of Parliaments, and a package of licorice ropes for her. Thing was, she smoked Camels, but I’d always try and be a cheap-ass and give her a pack of Parliaments, because they were “On sale, babe,”. Never worked. No fuckin’ way. She had this thing for lighting a cigarette in the car when we were half a mile from our destination, and I’d be all like, “We’re gonna be there soon, what are you doing?”  And she’s just take a long drag and blow the smoke in my general direction, as if she paid me no mind.
